SAINTE CHAPELLE

After waiting in line and being turned away a few days ago we bought tickets to Sainte Chapelle on line and when we got there at 10 discovered we had been in the wrong line earlier. 10 was apparently early and we got right in. And the stained windows of Sainte Chapelle were as beautiful as we dreamed they would be, delicate and graceful and light with intense colors both in the windows and on the painted walls.

We spent an hour there and then went back to La Droguerie, the buttons, ribbons and yarn store, one last time. Trying to find the Metro we discovered that under the park of Les Halles there is a shopping center with movie theaters and brightly lit stores. We decided to take it easy this afternoon and did, our last afternoon in Paris. We ate a delicious lunch at an outdoor cafe close by on Rue des Martres, crowded with shoppers. And then at the end of the day in the late evening glow we sat at a table at our favorite Cafe, Chez Ginette and drank a Mojito and watched the people go by: walking, on bicycles, on scooters, on motorcycles and in cars. And then we walked back through Montmartre to our Airbnb. It was a great way to soak in Paris one last time. We also had some excitement along the way which I will write about tomorrow.
