WANDERING AROUND THE PANTHEON
Today I took the metro to the Pantheon a huge building on the left bank, originally intended by Louis the XV to be dedicated to Saint Genevieve the patron saint of Paris but the French Revolution intervened and it ended up being a grand mausoleum where famous people, beginning with Victor Hugo were buried. It is designed in the grand classical style which is found all over Paris. I went there not to see the Pantheon but to wander in the streets behind the Pantheon. This is a little of what I saw. One of these days I‘ll do a post just on the chairs of Paris. Part of the charm of Paris is the striking chairs at every outdoor cafe, all of them beautiful.
