REMEMBERING INDIA

Almost every second year from 1970 on I have made a trip to India with a Warren Wilson College student or staff group or sometimes others. Since I retired in 2007 I have gone every other year with Susie or Todd and sometimes with others. My last trip was in 2019, three years ago, with Kathe and her girlhood German friend, Elke, along with Todd and Susie. In the last two years the pandemic has kept me from visiting India. Sometime this next year I will go again. To keep my memory fresh today I am going to post photographs of the colors of Hinduism in preparation for a visit tomorrow to the Sri Somesvara Vedic Hindu temple right here in Buncombe County in the Blue Ridge Mountains on a mountain called Mount Soma (the food of the gods) up a road called Soma Boulevard for my first visit to India right here at home. Since the temple is a Shiva temple with a Shiva lingam, a phallic stone shaft set in a female yoni (several of which are pictured below), at the center of the temple I am including a view examples of the Shiva lingam here.
