Another example of people in the Asheville area having a good time together. If the universe is an absurd place without any absolute meaning, these people sure don’t show it. Instead they are exuberantly having a great time. If America is an untidy place with big box stores and billboards everywhere, they certainly don’t seem to mind. If the country is polarized and bitterly at odds these people don’t show that either. They are having a great time celebrating the foolishness of Mermaids and Pirates simply because it is fun to do so, for the same reason Maggie wags herself in knots when I walk in the door. They can’t help it.
