HENLOPEN STATE PARK

The four Mahys, one brother, Todd, and three sisters, Sara, Lisa and Mary, rent a large house on Rehoboth Beach, Delaware every second Christmas. In-laws are invited so there is a full house. The Boright family, whom they have known for years and visited in Austria and Paris, rent a place nearby. The two families celebrate together for a week. Just a few miles from the beach house is Henlopen State Park, a bird sanctuary. John Boright, an avid bird watcher, leads a group to look at the birds in the park. Usually there are large flocks of snow geese on the lake on their way south but this year, maybe because of global warming, there were few snow geese flying by and none on the lake. But the morning was warm with bright sunshine and the grasses were beautiful shades of brown, yellow and orange. There were many ducks on Gordon‘s Pond. The walk was great fun.
